Training Visa – Subclass 407
The Training Visa (Subclass 407) allows eligible applicants to take part in workplace-based occupational training in Australia. This visa is designed to help improve job skills, support tertiary study requirements, strengthen professional expertise, and provide structured professional development.
To be eligible for the Training Visa (Subclass 407), you must:
- Be 18 years or older at the time of application
- Meet Australia’s health and character requirements
- Provide correct documents and supporting evidence
- Be sponsored by an approved sponsor
- Be nominated (unless sponsored by a Commonwealth Government agency)
- Be invited (if sponsored by a Commonwealth Government agency)
The Training Visa allows you to stay in Australia for up to 2 years, depending on your training program. Nomination requirements may vary based on the training purpose.
This visa covers three types of occupational training:
- Occupational training required for registration
- Occupational training to improve skills in an eligible occupation
- Occupational training for capacity building overseas, including: overseas qualifications, government support, or professional development programs
The Subclass 407 visa generally cannot be extended. If you wish to stay longer in Australia, you may need to apply for another visa depending on your eligibility and future plans.
